How much liability should I have?

This is often a question we get when discussing insurance needs. Every individual and family has a different circumstance. At a minimum you should have enough liability coverage to cover all of your assets. It is generally much better to go above and beyond that number for a couple reasons. The amount of someone suing you is not limited to your value in assets, this number could be much higher and you could be on the hook for that amount. Liability coverage is generally pretty cheap. Going from $500K to $1 million in coverage is probably cheaper then a pair of jeans.
